Writable DVD Discs On the Way from TDK

TDK has begun shipping sample quantities of its write-once DVD-R discs. Tim Sullivan,
TDK vice president of sales, says, "This demonstrates our commitment to supplying the
market with the high-capacity media necessary for the development of new multimedia
applications. With its unprecedented storage capabilities, the DVD-R format offers virtually
limitless potential."

TDK’s DVD-R discs are single-sided media with a storage capacity of 3.95GB and are
engineered for full compliance with Version 1.0 of the DVD-R standard. Once recorded,
the DVD-R discs are playable in all DVD-ROM and DVD-Video players. Suggested retail
price is $80.
